Dare to Fail

Hello everyone! How is everyone enjoying themselves today?

I am going to be posting every two weeks and during each post I’m going to be talking about something that bothers me, or inspires me or gives you some advice. If you have any requests, please leave them in the comments. If you’d prefer, please tweet me, using the hashtag #asksarahsmiles.

This week, I want to talk about something that I NEED to do, I should really take my own advice. I am so happy to sit with someone at 3 in the morning, in the rain, talking about relationships and giving them advice, but I never seem to take any of my own advice. I’m going to try and use this weeks theme as a ‘Birthday Resolution’ as I have just turned 20 and need an excuse to do this.

Everyone, every single one of us, should ‘dare to fail’. I know that sounds super weird, but I think it is something that is super important. By this, I don’t mean it to sound negative or horrible or anything and I don’t want any of you to fail.

For me, personally, so many times, I will just not try anything because I assume I am going to fail. It’s something that I know I can’t do, so why would I bother trying? I do this all time when I am playing guitar. If I want to learn a new song that has a new chord or a picking section, I will just give up and not learn and just play something that’s simple. And that’s great, but I’m never going to get any better if I don’t try. And yes, I might fail and not be able to do it, but at least I tried. I could always go back to it after a few months and try again.

So right now, I dare you all. In fact, screw it. I double donkey dare you, oh yeah. Try something. Something new, something scary and maybe something you think you are going to suck at. I dare you to try something new, because you never know. You could have some amazing talent/skill and life is too short to spend time worrying about failing. You’ll be thanking me later ;)

Always remember, shoot for the moon. Even if you miss it, you will land among the stars.

Enjoy the rest of your day and I look forward to hearing about you trying something new :)
