1. Tell us about how your blog got started.

I have always gravitated towards writing and reading, so blogging just seemed like a natural outlet for me. However, it wasn't until last year that I truly claimed my little corner of the internet. I started Eternally Wanderlyn with the hope that I could inspire others to live life on their own terms, follow their dreams, explore the world and embrace their inner beauty. In fact, the name is a sort of play on the words 'eternally wandering' and my name, Lynsey.

2. What exactly is Wanderlust?

Wanderlust is the intense desire to travel the world, and one that I know all too well. I'm pretty sure my body is 60% wanderlust, 30% chocolate and 10% wine.

3. Where does your love of travel and adventure come from? Where has it taken you?

Travel and adventure have pretty much always been a part of me, even before I could actually go places. I spent my childhood devouring books about far off places and cultures that were so different than mine. I think it was these books that instilled me with the desire to explore the world and fill my life with adventure.
Unfortunately, my travels have slowed down a bit these past few years. But I was lucky enough to study abroad in London for a semester allowing me to wander around the UK including Northern Ireland and Scotland.

In addition to my travels abroad, I've also enjoyed roaming around the US and exploring places like Las Vegas, Colorado, Florida, my home state of Texas and many more. Next up for me is New Orleans for a Halloween and birthday celebration that I'm sure will be one for the books! Then I'll be gearing up and getting in shape for a thru-hike along the Pacific Crest Trail.

4. Tell us 3 of your favorite posts you've ever written (include links).

5. What is something most people wouldn't know about you just from reading your blog?

I don't think people realize just how nerdy I actually am. They can read about my experience at the Austin Comic Con or my book reviews, but they don't see the true depth of my geekiness. For one, I love office supplies. Forget the romantic stroll on the beach. Take me on stroll through Office Depot! I also really like video games. I don't play very often, but every now and again I enjoy a good gaming session with my boyfriend. I am also in love with costumes and dressing up, which pretty much seals my fate as a nerd.

6. It seems that you like to tackle tough issues (feminism, body image, marriage, etc.) Are you ever afraid to voice your opinion? Why is talking about these issues important?

I'm always a little afraid of sharing my opinions about theses tougher issues. I worry that it will come across too abrasively or will be misinterpreted, so I always try to write with a sense of respect for the opinions of others. And so far my opinions have been met with such amazing support.
Tackling the tough issues is important because there is so much bad information out there about things like feminism and standards of beauty. There also seems to be this idea that there is one correct standard for life, love and beauty. But that's just not true. There are many different life paths to choose from, many kinds of beauty and many alternative opinions. I think discussing these differences allows us to work towards a culture of awareness and acceptance, while also encouraging people to embrace their true selves.

7. Share with us 3 blogs you follow religiously. (include links)

I read so many blogs everyday, but these 3 are definitely at the top of my list:
Helene In Between - This lady has awesome taste in music and a friendly writing style. Just Me, Leah - I love this woman! She's strong, funny and tells it like it is. See You In A Porridge - Kristen is my reading soulmate. We both share a love for all things Pride & Prejudice.

8. If you had to sum up your blog in 3 words, what would they be?

Life. Love. Wanderlust.

9. Tell us about your pups!

Rat Terrier, Dogs

My pups, Keesah and Chubby, are pretty much my kids and spirit animals. Much like me, they love to sleep, eat and take long walks. Chubby fancies himself to be quite the ladies man. He's always trying to get his snuggle on and loves long belly rubs. Though he does get a bit grumpy if any cats try to invade our backyard. Meanwhile, Keesah is convinced Diva is her middle name. She's a woman who knows what she wants and how to get it. She spends most of her time lounging around the house and giving out kisses.

10. What the best blogging advice you ever received? What is the best blogging advice you can give?

The best blogging advice I have received and that I can give is to write for yourself. It's easy to get caught up in the numbers and trying to please everybody. And even easier to lose confidence in your own writing. But the important thing to remember is that if you write for yourself and are passionate about what your topic, then it will shine through to your blog.
