My name is
Emma, I write the blog 'All That Shimmers'. I'm almost 20 and I'm currently in
university studying Media, Journalism, Graphics and English... And I really
love pugs.
2. Where did you get the idea for All
That Shimmers? Why did you want to start a blog?
There's
this really popular saying 'All that glitters is not gold' which I've always
liked, plus I have a huge love for shimmery products so the two combined
created 'All That Shimmers'.
I started
my blog originally to fill the void between finishing college and starting
uni... I broke up from college at the beginning of June 2014, then didn't start
uni till the end of September! The popularity then grew and grew to what it is
today, there's also a great community plus the degree I'm working for goes hand
in hand perfectly with blogging, so if I could leave uni and become a full time
blogger that would be the dream!
3. Link 3 of your favorite posts
you've written.
When I
bought my first Naked 2 palette it had broken in the post, then when I had cleaned
it up I discovered it was also a fake. I luckily got my money back but making
the best of a bad situation I wrote a post on how to tell the difference, so I
feel good about hopefully helping someone not do the same!
This was
the first post when I used my new SLR properly, I was really pleased with how
the photos turned out considering I've not used SLR's too much in the past.
My latest
post was simply a list of websites I find helpful, but I was overwhelmed with
how popular it got! It got over 300 likes on Bloglovin, thousands of views,
tonnes of comments, loads of new followers... So I'm definitely proud of this
one!
4. If you were stranded on an island
and could only take 3 beauty products, what would they be?
My Naked 2
palette - this is my favourite eyeshadow palette in the whole wide world, I would
never want to part with it.
Barry M
Eyebrow Kit - I need my brows done, I feel naked otherwise!!
Rimmel
Wake Me Up Foundation - This is my most favourite foundation ever, the subtle
shimmer is too gorgeous I haven't had a foundation that beats it to date.
5. How do you fit blogging into your
daily schedule?
I don't
have a regular schedule really, I just squeeze it in when I can. At the moment
I'm off Uni and have just handed in my last assignment so I'm going to use the
time I still have until I'm back to plan and schedule posts. I find the
calendar on Google is handy as it gives me alarm reminders on my phone and I
can still view it as an electronic calendar on both my laptop and phone. I'm
also trying to post every other day right now, so I make sure the next post is
finished on the 'off' day!
6. What are the top 3 beauty tips you
would give to your readers?
Wash your
make up brushes regularly! When I first started using brushes I didn't realise
how regular it should be, then the first time I washed them a load of crap went
everywhere and it took ages! I do it every other weekend now.
This is
gonna sound weird, but wash your hair without shampoo sometimes! I now and then
just use conditioner, I'm unnaturally blonde so my hair needs regular TLC and
this is definitely the best way to go about it.
If you're
going to do a bold eye, keep your lips simple! I regularly have bold eyes so I
have a tone of pinky/nude lipsticks floating about.
7. What's your favorite place to
shop?
New Look
for clothes, basically all my clothes are from there! Superdrug for beauty and
other bits - I used to work there so I still have a discount card!
8. What do you do when you have a
blogging writers block?
Browse
through my drafts and see what is there, or just go shopping!! I always find
something I want to write about whilst browsing in TK Maxx, drugstores, so on!
9. List three bloggers (and links)
that you read daily.
I love
this blog! Victoria is definitely a massive inspiration!
Another
lilac haired blogger, she's such a lovely person and has a cracking personality
- her videos are great!
10. What advice would you give others interested in beauty blogging?
Make sure you have the time! Blogging is really time consuming, there has been days where I've done nothing but be sat on my blog and there isn't much to show but I will have been sat there all day long doing something.

ReplyDeleteBlogging is definitely very time consuming! With the winters where I am, it's dark when I go to work, and dark when I get home so I'm limited to weekend for picture taking until summer. I'm glad this post introduced me to your blog, I love your handy website post!
