4 Ways to Be Happier and Healthier

With a new year comes new goals to improve ourselves. We may want to run a marathon that we have always dreamt of. We may want to improve our cooking or computer skills. A lot of posts I have noticed from people, tend to be about wanting to be healthier and wanting to be happier, though. It is such a universal thing; we all want to be happier. So how can we be happier and healthier? Here are a few tips to start you off:

Have a Good Bedtime Routine
Think about it, babies and children have a set bedtime and a particular routine. Then when we become teenagers it all changes and we never seem to get back into it. Having a good bedtime routine will help us to sleep better. Sleeping better will help us to be happier. It affects our mood and what foods we want to eat. Studies have shown that people that get enough sleep weigh less and are healthier in general. Sleeping more is an easy thing to do so why don’t more of us do it? A simple way would be to set yourself a bedtime. If you are always in bed at a certain time, you will get into the routine of sleeping at that time.

Avoid Too Much Alcohol
Alcohol can dehydrate you massively. It can also affect your weight and give you other problems. It is so addictive too. If you find that you need drink everyday to get on with normal things, then you are not going to be healthy or happy. If this is an issue for you, you should consider a men's or women’s recovery center for help. A lot of people may argue that drink makes them happy. But the long-term health effects outweigh the temporary ‘happiness’.

Drink More Water
Our bodies are made up of a lot of water, so it makes sense that we need a lot of it to function correctly. It keeps you hydrated. It flushes away toxins. It even helps your skin look better and reduces the chance of spots and breakouts. There are so many good reasons to drink more water to help you be healthier.

Pick an Exercise You Enjoy
I’m not going to say go for a run if you hate running. But choose something that you like to do. If you enjoy it, you have more chance of sticking at it. If you like to unwind with a little yoga, then do that. If boxing helps you to destress, then do that. Exercise is good for you in so many ways. It will help you feel happier and healthier. It will aid weight loss which affects your health, as well as strengthening your muscles and improving your posture.

In short, you need to start today to make a few changes in your life. Being healthier and happier will impact your life so much. You will live longer, be more productive at work or be a better parent. What changes will you start to make?
