A Woman's Guide To Dealing With Facial Hair

Excess facial hair can be the bane of most women’s lives. They will do all they can to get rid of or disguise it to keep their feminine appearance intact. The sight of long or dark facial hair can come as a huge shock and affect a woman’s self-esteem significantly. It can be caused by imbalanced hormones, being pregnant or even by taking certain medications. While it can be embarrassing, it’s not something you should panic about. More women that you probably realise are going through the same experience as you. So if you find some unwanted facial hair, use the tips in this guide to help you deal with it.

Never Shave
Shaving is a big no-no when it comes to removing facial hair. It can cause irritation, cut your face and cause ingrown hairs to develop. Shaving is only a temporary solution as it does not entirely remove the root of the hair. So before you know it, the hair will reappear again. It’s something that you will have to keep regularly on top of to avoid stubble. Plus it’s very easy to cut hairs that don’t need to be removed which could encourage a larger area of excess hair to develop.  So as tempting as it might be, only use your razor to get your legs and body looking summer ready.

Try tweezing
If you only have the odd one or two hairs, tweezing can be a quick and easy way of dealing with excess facial hair. A pair of tweezers can pull the hair and the root out leaving you with soft and smooth skin. This is often the kindest approach to hair removal. Do your tweezing after having a bath or shower as this will reduce the pain and makes the hair easier to remove. If tweezing does not giving you the results you want, think about waxing, threading or hair removal cream instead.

Consider laser removal
If you want a more permanent fix, and you’ve exhausted your other options, laser hair could be the solution. Many women opt for this treatment as it considered less painful than waxing and threading. It’s often been considered a more expensive option of hair removal. But as it gives such long-term results many women are happy to pay for it.  This is ideal if you have large areas of dark hairs that you want to get rid of. Laser treatments vary so it’s good to do some research and have a consultation beforehand. Search for Laser Hair Removal on Google to find reputable salons in your area.

Talk to your doctor
If you think that your excess facial hair is linked with your hormones, make an appointment with your doctor. They may be able to give you a hormone treatment or alter your current medication.

Now you know what you have to do, your facial hair won’t seem like such a big deal. It’s something that every woman will have to deal with at some point in her life and is nothing to be ashamed of.
