Everything You Need To Know To Keep Your Looks Young And Healthy

How many of us would flick the magic switch to younger, healthier looking skin, if such a switch existed? For many of us, our health and our youth are really important factors in what makes us feel confident and ready to take on the world. As we age, life can start to take its toll on our looks - skin starts to wrinkle and look dull, teeth stop being so pearly white, and the bags under our eyes look like we’ve been on a blow-out shopping spree. We can slow down the signs of ageing, though. We just have to start sooner rather than later.

Quit those bad habits
Caffeine, alcohol, cigarettes, and going to bed late are all playing havoc with our looks. The odd glass of red wine or morning coffee won’t make too much difference, but when they play a larger role in our lives our teeth start to stain, our skin loses its stretchiness which will lead to wrinkles around the eyes, and our health takes a nosedive, making our skin look dull and lifeless. While life is for living, and the odd night of fun shouldn’t be turned down, bad habits like cigarettes and not prioritizing a good night’s sleep are doing nothing for our youthful good looks, so it’s probably time to give them a shove and put health first.

Perfect your skin care
A great skin care routine is a thing to behold, and something many women spend their entire lives trying to perfect. The basic rules are cleansing, exfoliation, and moisturizing, but some people choose to add in steps like toner and masks, based on their skin type. Be aware that throughout the seasons and your monthly cycle your skin changes, so having a variety of options, including a face moisturizer for every skin type, means you can always give your skin what it needs to balance out the problems caused by hormones and bad weather.

Enjoy the great outdoors
Fresh air and sunlight are really important for your own sense of wellbeing and vitamin D production, but spending time outside also enables you to get the exercise your body needs to be healthy and stay youthful, giving your skin that beautiful glow. Just make sure that you’re using a moisturizer with SPF15 or above when you’re outside - the results of overexposure to sunlight on your skin is not worth the tan.

Eat and drink well
What you put into your body can be seen on your skin, so eating a lot of sugary or processed foods will result in greasier, more spot-prone skin. Eating a lot of leafy greens, ginger, and other fruit and veggies help to keep your skin younger and healthier, and when this is coupled with good hydration, your skin will be in tip-top condition.

Enjoy life
Happiness shows on your face, so make sure you’re out enjoying life, socializing regularly, and pursuing your dreams and interests. A happy, relaxed face is far more youthful than a stressed or tired face.
