Looking Hot In The Gym Is No Sweat!

The gym is one place many of us have a love/hate relationship with. We love going because exercising makes us feel good and we love it when the results pay off for our bodies. But equally, we can hate the gym at times because it can be a very self-conscious kind of place. Everyone is dressed in lycra or very little at all, people tend to not-so-subtly stare, and it can sometimes feel like a bit of a contest over who can run the longest, or lift the heaviest weight. If you are coming to the gym to improve your physique, it can also be somewhat intimidating as you compare yourself to all the insanely fit people around you. However, try to bear in mind that everyone has to start somewhere - and by coming to the gym in the first place, you are already one step closer to achieving any fitness goals you may have. That being said, if you do need that little extra confidence boost, there's no reason why you can't put some time and effort into looking cuter at the gym. No, we don't mean turning up with a fresh spray tan and a pair of false eyelashes on! But there are some ways you can look good while still kicking butt at the gym.

Carry a towel
If you don't sweat a little on your trips to the gym, you are clearly doing something wrong! But that doesn't mean to say that you need to spend your whole workout session red-faced and dripping with sweat. Not only does this look less than appealing, but it can also make you uncomfortable, too. Always carry a hand towel around the gym with you to wipe off any excess sweat and to make you feel and look a lot fresher. You can even now buy towels that have a built-in cooling feature, which can help regulate your temperature and keep your skin a more 'normal' color.

Brighten things up
Okay, so you wouldn't walk into the gym in your Jimmy Choos or sporting your animal print coat. But who said that gymwear had to be boring? Having an exciting and invigorating set of activewear to choose from can act as great motivation to get into the gym and smash that workout. Colors can play a huge role in the way we feel and opting to wear something bright and playful can easily lift out mood. Plus, who wants to look the same as everyone else in the gym? Don't be afraid of pushing yourself out of your comfort zone with something like red yoga pants, or a patterned sports bra. When you know you look good, you will find more confidence in yourself and are therefore likely to have a better workout too.

Keep your hair off your face
Many of us feel much more feminine with our hair down, styled within an inch of its life. But there is one place that this kind of look simply isn't appropriate, and that place is in the gym. However, if you're not used to wearing your hair up, finding a cute look for the gym can be a bit of a challenge. Look for ways to spice up the old-school ponytail. Wear it high instead of at the nape of your neck - this immediately looks more polished and girly. Invest in a few fun yet practical hair accessories such as scrunchies and sweatbands. Scrunchies are less harsh on your hair than typical elastic hair ties, and sweatbands serve a purpose as well as coming in a variety of styles and colors. If you are feeling a little more daring, why not try out some 90's-inspired French braids for a cute and practical workout look?

Learn 'gym friendly' makeup
Even though you are always better off hitting the gym without makeup, some of us genuinely feel a lot more confident wearing just a little bit of it. If you are one of these people, invest in some 'gym friendly' types of makeup. Leave foundation out of it as it will only run off your face the second you get sweaty - not a good look! Opt instead for some under-eye concealer - it will brighten your face up for that dreaded pre-work session. Finish with a little bit of a lip tint and some waterproof mascara. Now who said you couldn't still look cute at the gym?!
