Write about the brand
If you want to be spotted by the press office for a brand you need to make sure you are creating content with their products already. A company will want to see that to are already a fan of their products before they start giving out free samples for you to try out and share. If you are always writing good reviews about their products or sharing them in images, they will jump at the chance to collaborate with you.

If you are looking to get in PR lists you need to come up with the names of the brands you would love to work with. This will allow you to start doing your research and finding their press office information in order to get in touch and ask for a collaboration.

Asking for products
When you come to making the contact between yourself and the brand it is crucial that you plan it thoroughly beforehand. If you simply send an email asking for samples of products the company will likely not even give you the time of day. If you want to stand out and be the one they choose for a collaboration you need to plan how you are going to use the samples and tell them. For example let’s say you wanted to get some free biscuits: you could be planning a blog post on creating simple afternoon tea snacks featuring the biscuits. Tell this to the brand and they are much more likely to give you a chance. If you show the company how you plan to use their product, they are much more likely to collaborate with you.

Know your stats
Although not everything is a numbers game in blogging, a large part of the brand’s first impression will be down to your following on various channels. Brands will always want to make sure that their product can get in front of the most people, so they will work to find bigger bloggers to work with. As a small blogger the thing you can bring to your advantage is engagement. Engagement is more important than followers because it shows active members of your community. If you can show that your engagement is high even if the following is small, they will be likely to pick you because you have proved to have a more active and loyal community than others in the field.
